Measure contradictions across the song.

Two-tier contradiction rule:

Tier 1 – Hard Negation: Literal opposites
Example: “I am strong” → “I am weak”

Tier 2 – Functional Negation: Meaning contradicts prior claim, and a reasonable annotator can explain it in one sentence without interpretation leaps
Valid: “I don’t care” → “this broke me”
Invalid: “I’m good” → “life is complicated”

Method:

• Divide song into 20-line blocks
• Compare each block to previous blocks
• Count contradictions in claims about self / emotion / belief
• Score = (contradictions / possible block-pairs) × 100

Measure emotional switching.

Method:

• Assign one dominant emotion per line: anger, sadness, joy, fear, calm, other
• If multiple emotions appear, choose the dominant tone
• Count switches between consecutive lines
• Score = (number of switches / (total lines - 1)) × 100

Measure whether actions violate stated values.

Value statement:

• explicit and unambiguous
• includes good/bad/right/wrong/should/should not
• or a clear moral / identity claim like “I’m loyal”
• do NOT infer implicit values

Action statement:

• describes past, present, or intended future behavior

Contradiction:

• action directly violates a value stated in the same song

Score:

• (value-action violations / total value statements) × 100
